The Hiding Place, Corrie ten Boom.
This book is beautiful, sobering, and an incredible testament to God’s faithfulness even in the most extreme situations. And it’s a true story! Highly recommended.

The Princess Bride, William Goldman.
This book is a hoot! If you’ve seen the movie, well, the book is even better than that. It’s hilarious, brilliant, clever, and romantic, all rolled up together in the best possible way. It’s weird, too – very weird, but then again, so is the movie. Highly recommend.
Little Women, Louisa May Alcott.
Who doesn’t love a classic!? This book was one of my first literary loves. A beautiful, cozy, lasting story of four sisters and their neighbor.

The Book Thief, Markus Zusak.
This book is AMAZING! It’s one of those books that punches you hard in the stomach in the best kind of way.
It will give you a new perspective and a fresh appreciation for words. Highly recommend it.
Peter Pan, J. M. Barrie.
This is one of those stories everybody knows but not many people actually read. This book is gold! SO much better than the Disney movie (which I’m personally not a fan of). A classic for kids and adults alike!
Les Miserables, Victor Hugo.
This book is a gem. A very heavy gem. A beast of a book, the version I read was over 1,200 pages, but oh, it was worth it. I love this story. If you have the gumption to pick it up, I bet you’ll like it too.
The Giver, Lois Lowry.
Love this book! It’s thought-provoking, futuristic, and slightly creepy. (Only slightly. I found it to be worth it.)
Lois Lowry is an amazing storyteller!
The Wingfeather Saga, Andrew Peterson.
READ THIS SERIES.
Really. It’s amazing.
I read the first book when I was about 11. I wasn’t sure I would like it. But I couldn’t put it down.
And the good news? It’s the first in a series of four books, and each one is better than the last.
The Circle Trilogy, Ted Dekker.
This is a really great series. Ted Dekker really brings to life the idea of alternate realities, all the while drawing you into an encounter with Jesus.
I’d give it a 13+, for some mature topics and violence.
The Rise and Fall of Mount Majestic, Jennifer Trafton.
Jennifer Trafton is a whimsical soul. Her stories are simple and sweet and utterly enchanting. Besides being a personal inspiration to me, she’s a splendiferous writer. Read this book!
Do Hard Things, Alex & Brett Harris.
This book is life-changing. Written by teens, for teens, it will challenge you. Defeat the low expectations society has for you and step up to speak life into our generation.
Unbroken, Laura Hillenbrand.
This book was good. Heavy, but good, and with a redemptive, hopeful ending. I learned a lot about the resilience and beauty of the human soul, reading this.
Definitely for older/ more mature readers, but I found it to be rewarding.
