Planting Seeds

…”The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

Matthew 13:31-32

This morning during our bible reading, we read Matthew 13:31-32, where Jesus tells the parable of the mustard seed. We talked about how even the smallest things we do can grow into the biggest and most meaningful. How sometimes we strive do to big things, when it’s the little moments that count. Like a mustard seed, the little things we do can seem small and meaningless in the big scope of things. The small things we do can feel like they are overlooked and ignored. But we are planting seeds… though they may be small, they will grow into beautiful trees, the largest of all the garden plants. And birds will come and make nests in the branches.

The way I see this, sometimes the smallest things count as the biggest. The small message you send to a friend on a whim could be the best part of their day. Don’t be discouraged when you feel like all the things you do are unnoticed, God sees and he will help your seeds to grow.

Isn’t life a beautiful thing? Everything we do counts. We are planting seeds in the garden of life, everything we sow we will reap when the time is right. Everything you plant, whether it is your words or actions or the things you write, you will sow the harvest of those thing. If you plant good seeds, you will have a good harvest.

As you think about the coming year, may you plant good seeds, even the small ones. That’s what I want to do, always be looking for the next good thing. Don’t get discouraged! Seek God’s face and be filled with joy.

That’s all I’m going to say for now. Have a good Sunday, everyone!
