Raindrops II: A Poem
Drop. Drop.
Drip.
Drop.
Look up, child, and see the rain.
See how it falls?
It falls from the heavens.
So high.
See the clouds?
Don’t be afraid.
See the drops?
Hundreds.
Thousands.
Millions and millions and millions
Of drops.
I made them for you, child.
Look at the trees.
See the leaves?
The leaves, wet.
Dripping.
Hear the rain, as it falls on the leaves?
Hear the patter?
Hear the beauty?
Look at me, my child.
In your eyes I see the rain.
Don’t be afraid.
I see the drops.
I see the stars.
Hundreds.
Thousands.
Millions and millions
Of stars.
Look at the rain
And the leaves
And the flowers.
And listen to the patter.
Dripping.
The rain.
I made them for you, child.
The rain.
