Lady Bluebird’s Homemade Hot Cocoa
Posted On December 4, 2021
Here is my recipe for homemade hot chocolate. It makes 4 cups, enough to serve about 6 people. So get on your holiday apron and turn on some Christmas music, stir up a batch, and enjoy with your family!
Ingredients:
- 4 cups of milk
- 1/3 – 1/2 cup cocoa powder (if you like it strong, go for 1/2 cup.)
- 1/3 – 1/2 cup sugar (depending on how sweet you like it)
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract.
Optional:
- candy cane
- marshmallows
- whipped cream
- First, find a medium sized pot. Pour the milk into it and let it get warm. Whisk, so it doesn’t burn.
- Add cocoa powder and sugar. Whisk until they are dissolved.
- Let it simmer, and add the vanilla.
- Keep simmering for a while, until it is nice and hot.
- If you want, add a candy cane, and let it dissolve for some peppermint-y chocolate!
Pour into your favorite Christmas mugs. If you’d like, you can add whipped cream or marshmallows. Or both!
Nota bene: I am not a professional photographer. Therefore, the pictures above are not professional. 😉
